Amazon Prime Day - are you primed and ready?

Once again, the much-anticipated Amazon event is returning on 11-12th July. Sellers globally recognise the value of this 48 hour event to take advantage of the surge in shopping activity.

Loyal Amazon customers are ready and waiting in anticipation of deals and savings.

In 2022, Prime Day generated over 300 million sales worldwide on Amazon online - that’s even before the potential halo-effect of customers finding their way to your website is taken into account. And, with 39% of UK Amazon customers having access to a Prime subscription, it’s vital for sellers to ensure their listings and account are in their prime, whether you offer Prime or not.

Here are some top tips to increase sales on Amazon Prime Day:

1. Boost visibility - organic and paid

Product visibility in search should be a top priority. Amazon’s algorithm uses a variety of factors to determine your organic placement in the search results, and optimising your listings is key to boosting your listing.  Conduct competitor analysis and keyword research to ensure your listings are indexed for as many relevant terms as possible.

Ensure your advertising campaigns are optimised and consider reviewing your budgets over this competitive period.

2. Watch out for aggressive competitors!

Ad spend increases over Prime Day as sellers compete for the top spots. Consider increasing your budget, or consider reallocating budget into promotions or optimisation work instead if you feel unable or unwilling to compete with the big spenders.

3. Check over your pricing & promotions

It’s important to maintain a good margin and profit, but consider the longer term benefit that could be had from generating more sales, and in turn more reviews and brand awareness. Your product rankings can really benefit from a spike in sales.

Shoppers are ultimately hoping for a deal. Utilise a repricer tool to keep your pricing competitive. Our repricing functionality can sit you just below the competition, but also raise your price again if your competitors sell out.

4. Work on conversion

Customers are more inclined to checkout over Prime Day - so, don’t give them any reason not to! Check your listings for mistakes or anything that may put buyers off. Make sure you’re trying to get negative feedback removed ahead of time. Double check your listings contain all information required to check out and that you are highlighting benefits & USPs.Imagery and videos sell, so ensure that yours are showcasing your products well. Shoppers who watch videos on a product listing are 3.6 times more likely to buy the product, according to Amazon experience data.

5. Keep your account healthy

Performance metrics are important on Amazon, but aside from Black Friday, there's never been a more important time to make sure your account is in tip-top condition. In the run-up, make sure your orders are dispatched on time, avoid claims and keep customers happy!

6. Plan ahead!

There is nothing worse than running out of stock when you have demand. Review past sales performance and make sure you have enough stock of your best sellers to meet potential demands.

7Prepare your website

Customers may be inclined to search for you after seeing your listings on Amazon if they want to learn more about your brand. Customers may also be more inclined to shop online if they have been specifically waiting for this event to make a purchase. Ensure your website is ready to create a great first impression and capture that sale!

8. Most important, utilise Prime!

Amazon Prime Day will push Prime enabled listings, whether you are using FBA or Seller Fulfilled Prime. If you are already set up for Seller Fulfilled Prime, ensure that as many of your listings as you can have the Prime template enabled. If you aren’t able to offer Prime, at least make sure you are offering free delivery.

The tips provided should give you everything you need to have a successful, productive, and profitable Prime Day experience.
