UK tops eCommerce sales chart

A new report has been published which showed that the UK is leading the way when it comes to commitment to buying online.

According to figures published by independent market research company Forrester, around 72% of UK consumers bought goods and services via the Internet during 2010, and it is estimated that even by 2015, the UK’s lead in this industry will be unchallenged.

Despite the challenging economy, European online retail sales grew 18% in 2010, and will grow 13% in 2011, reaching €92bn, according to new five year forecast from the market research company.

Over the next five years, 68 per cent of European citizens will have bought something from an e-commerce site, with this percentage being much higher in Britain than elsewhere.

As UK consumers continue to spend their cash online and broadband continues to improve greatly across the UK, there is no reason to doubt the figures and estimates found in the recent report.
