The latest survey from CBI (Confederation of British Industry) has predicted that May 2011 could be a poor month for UK high street sales. The survey indicates retailers believe that sales during this month could be the worst seen since September 2009.
Despite a recent rise in figures in April of this year, many retailers are preparing themselves to take a negative hit on their sales this month. UK merchants and traders are expecting no sales growth for the coming month, all down to the fact shoppers are reluctant to go out and spend due to the current economic climate.
While all this doom and gloom is bad news for the high street it could certainly be good news for the eCommerce industry, with less people wanting to shop on the high street and more customers turning to online shopping as a convenient alternative, increasing the amount of natural online traffic and boosting sales.
It’s no surprise that low sales figures are expected in the coming months for the high street, with online shopping becoming even more accessible, and the introduction of iPhone and Android Apps, more and more people are choosing to make their purchases on the move.
It’s likely that the online retailers are less prone to be worried about the survey results as online sales continue to increase, due to the fact shopping sites are more convenient to people with busy and hectic lives.
So while high street shopping remains tough it seems having an eCommerce site is the way forward in the retail industry. Here at Visualsoft we have the knowledge to make your business an online success. To find out more about our eCommerce services contact Visualsoft today.
