We’re looking for an ambitious SEO Manager to join our rapidly growing SEO team. This position is ideal for someone with a real sense of self-motivation and drive who’s looking to make a big impact in a fast-paced agency environment.

The key to success in this role will come from a wealth of experience in leading SEO projects and strategies, as well as a cutting-edge practical knowledge of optimisation techniques that actually work in practice.

As part of the SEO strategy team, your responsibilities would include managing a team of SEO strategists in addition to your own portfolio of projects, working with other SEO and marketing teams to plan and execute effective SEO strategies and developing excellent relationships with clients. We want to see you thrive as part of the Senior SEO team and help to shape and grow our developing team processes.

The ideal person for this role should have a forward-thinking view of SEO and be able to work autonomously while leading a small team of SEO strategists. We’re looking for someone that’s comfortable tackling problems head-on and can use analytical data to back up their strategies. What You’ll Be Doing

The role of SEO Manager will involve the day to day management of a small team of SEO strategists and the management of a number of SEO projects. You’ll be responsible for setting an SEO strategy for a set number of high-level clients, building a strong relationship with said clients via frequent communication and monthly reporting.

You’ll need to work closely with members of the SEO team and wider marketing department at all levels in order to meet client KPIs while carrying out your management duties.

The main duties & responsibilities of the role include:

  • Line management duties for members of the SEO strategy team, including training and regular reviews.
  • Working closely with the Senior SEO team & Head of SEO to review team performance and manage SEO project allocations.
  • Define requirements and drive strategic direction on allocated projects while delivering quarterly client plans.
  • Day-to-day project management of planned tasks for specific clients.
  • Collaborative delegation of work to appropriate members in sub-teams.
  • Close involvement in higher level Enterprise clients (inc. international projects).
  • Work closely with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, to provide diverse approaches covering multiple aspects of SEO as a discipline.
  • Ongoing client communication regarding updates and account progress.
  • Deliver work on tasks defined in plans where required.
  • Tracking, reporting and providing detailed analysis on project performance.
  • Support on sales proposals and recommendations.

The role of SEO Manager requires someone with strong organisational and planning skills as this is a key part of delivery a clear and effective SEO strategy as a team. You’ll need to be able to effectively manage a team, work closely with senior members of the team, and have solid experience within SEO; experience and knowledge of other marketing channels and willingness to self learn will also be crucial to your development.

Other key competencies for this role include:

  • Experience in managing and training a team
  • Current knowledge of all key industry news and algorithm changes
  • Knowledge of relevant web technologies such as HTML and CSS Understanding of key technical SEO concepts (indexation, duplication, site architecture, page speed)
  • Detailed understanding of content strategy and how to create content that attracts a qualified audience
  • Good grasp of wider SEO elements (local SEO, international etc.)
  • Thorough understanding of tools relevant to the role e.g. Searchmetrics, Ahrefs, Majestic, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager etc.
  • A detailed understanding of how marketing decisions affect the commercial elements of a client’s business Cross-discipline understanding.
  • Awareness of how an individual specialism interacts with other channels Excellent analytical and organisational skills
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to foster strong relationships at all levels.
