The Conservatory - eCommerce Web Design

Jesmond, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne

When you walk through the doors of the conservatory a feeling of calm and tranquillity will instantly take over your senses. The natural furnishings help to create this warm atmosphere encompassing an original oak floor mirrored by low wooden beams.

The highlight of this spacious shop is the impressive conservatory roof located at the far end of the store. The instantly brings in light to enhance the colours and fabrics of the clothing. Leading out from here is our enchanting garden and patio area. This is the perfect setting for relaxing and enjoying a chilled glass of wine whilst choosing the perfect outfit.

The Conservatory Says

Our previous web developers were a very small design agency and could no longer offer us the service that we required. We looked at large national companies but felt that we would be very ‘small fish’ to them and would rather find a company somewhere in the middle that would respect us as a good client, also we really wanted someone in the North East that we could visit easily. We chose Visualsoft because they ticked these boxes. They had also worked with several companies in our industry.

We did have a live website but it needed to be taken to the next level. Our existing company did not have the abilities to create what we wanted in the form of content management, stock control, design, usability, Marketing etc. We see the internet as a massive market that we want a piece of. We have seen competitors succeed and wanted to first equal that success, then surpass it. Online clothing websites are appearing at an ever-increasing rate and it soon became a case of why aren’t we selling online, rather than why sell online.

The website has had a very positive impact on our company, most importantly it is starting to generate more revenue and further build our brand. People are buying online and it is bringing several new customers into the store. The internet allows an Independent company to stand alongside a national company and give them a real run for their money, however as our market place expands, so does the volume of competition. Most companies of our size have a very poor web presence. Our site makes us look like we could be a international chain. The new website compliments our corporate image although it differs quite a lot from the actual company branding. It is a positive change though and may effect the way we portray our brand in-store as well as online.

We have not as yet ventured into new sectors but we have definitely been reaching new customers. Almost all of our sales are from new customers at the other end of the country. The site will be used to attract new suppliers although it has not been used to this effect as yet. For the future we plan to increase the volume of products available, the traffic through the site and the quantity of sales, whilst minimising the returns and maximising the profit!
