Meet The Mentors – Using Analytics

Within the Visualsoft Training School we offer Analytics workshops to accommodate both beginners and those that are already advanced. Our Analytics for Beginners workshop explores the basic principles of using Google Analytics to analyse your website’s performance, and shares the expertise we’ve gained as a certified Google Analytics Partner. Designed for beginners, it covers everything from creating an account to analysing basic reports and can help you to drive forward your business. This course covers the following:

  • How to gain more insight into consumer behaviour
  • Methods to identify your underperforming website pages
  • How to track previously untracked marketing campaigns
  • Where your customers are coming from and what they are searching for
  • How to gain valuable data on mobile traffic and behaviour
  • More about conversion factors and issues
  • How to build your audience through Analytics data

And for those that are more confident with using Analytics, our Advanced Analytics workshop focuses on how to use advanced Google Analytics features to give you a much deeper insight into your website’s performance.

Along with a recap of the best practice techniques and info shared in our Analytics For Beginners workshop, this course looks at a range of advanced topics to help you drive forward your business by giving you a greater understanding of your customers. Through the workshop you will learn how to:

  • Gain deeper insight into consumer behaviour
  • Carry out advanced analysis
  • Integrate analytics with social media and Google AdWords
  • Understand attribution, multi-channel funnels, pivot tables, custom reports and site speed analysis
  • Manipulate segments and advanced filters

Both of our Analytics workshops are conducted by our Senior Conversion Analyst. Meet your mentor Gavin Lowther…

Analytics, data, conversion rate optimisation

How did you get into Online Marketing?
I started working for a retailer that was in the process of installing an EPOS system, this then needed to feed into their eCommerce website. I soon became eCommerce Manager and realised that I had a passion for both data and online marketing. Being data driven quickly led to Google Analytics and Conversion Rate Optimisation.

What’s your favourite thing about working with Analytics?
Analytics is proof, it’s factual and can easily prove right or wrong. It removes guess work and is the most important tool in your online armoury. It’s also so in depth and just keeps getting better!

Can you sum up your Workshop in 5 words?
Data, knowledge, experience, opportunity, growth

What is the one thing you want people to take away from your training session?
Analytics is one of the most important tools you already have, use it and understand it as much as you can!

I’m attending your workshop next month, do I need any prior knowledge? Can I do some early preparation/reading?
Basic knowledge of logging in and viewing results is required, the rest is covered. The more knowledge you have the more you will take away (hints, tips, do’s and don’ts).

https://analyticsacademy.withgoogle.com/ – Analytics academy is a great resource for learning.

What’s your favourite thing about running the training workshops?
My favourite thing about running the workshops is when clients go away thinking slightly differently about analytics and start to use the full power of the tool. It’s rewarding to find answers to questions that we were not expecting as we run through the course.

My ideal session would include….(lively debate, client specific questions etc)
Questions are key as it means we can try to answer these as we go along, they benefit everyone in the room as it’s often not the answer that is key, it’s how we used the data and mined it to find the answer. Thought processes more than actual answers.

Just for fun…

If you were stuck on a desert island, what three things would you want to take?
My house, my iPhone, alcohol
