Hive’s John Ryder shortlisted for Entrepreneur Award

John Ryder, founder and Managing Director of our sister company Hive.HR, is one of seventeen entrepreneurs from England and Scotland who have been shortlisted for the BQ Emerging Entrepreneur awards 2016!

It’s safe to say that Hive.HR kicked off 2016 on a high after successfully closing out a funding round on the GrowthFunders platform, quickly going into overfunding, soon after launching their campaign. The round eventually closed out at £297,000, attracting interest from a mixture of online and professional investors.

Hive HR provides an alternative to the much criticised annual employee survey, and focuses on a weekly micro-survey approach that generates more manageable results. The application makes it easier for business owners and HR professionals to understand, measure, and improve employee engagement. The idea is that through weekly, anonymous, micro-surveys, employers can measure the engagement, motivation, and productivity of their workforce.

Employee engagement is rapidly gaining awareness as a key part of the working culture as business owners look to improve staff retention and satisfaction levels. Visualsoft are living proof that having a happier and more engaged workforce can lower sickness and absences –  consequently increasing productivity.

The BQ Emerging Entrepreneur awards is a national event that aims to celebrate the best in business, encouraging entrepreneurship across the UK. Shortlists have been drawn up for four separate awards which celebrate entrepreneurs from the North East, Yorkshire, the West Midlands, and Scotland. Our very own John Ryder is one of 4 entrepreneurs shortlisted for the North East region. The shortlisted leaders cover a range of sectors including manufacturing, digital, food and property.

BQ’s managing director, Bryan Hoare, said: “Every year we’re amazed with the standard of the entrepreneurs who are nominated for this award, and every year it gets harder and harder to shortlist just four businesses, which is why we’ve made some special mentions this year too.

Regional winners will be announced on Thursday (February 25th) at a dinner in Leeds, hosted by the BBC’s Mark Easton. Good luck to all shortlisted entrepreneurs – especially John!  View the full shortlist here.
