Charity bike ride a huge success

We are delighted to report that Vicki pushed herself beyond the limit for charity earlier this month as she completed the AmsterDAME 10 bike ride.

As we reported two weeks ago, Vicki, one of our award-winning website designers, was part of a 60-strong group of females who were taking part in the monster bike ride of over 250 miles from York to Amsterdam and back again.

Despite a few minor incidents, and quite a few bumps and bruises along the way, all 60 who took part completed the ride and got home in one piece.

Vicki said: “I can’t believe we made it. Getting back on the saddle to cycle over 65 miles the day after we’d just ridden 55 miles was hard work and pretty painful.”

Vicki said that the backing they had received spurred the girls on to finish the ride. She said: “The Sunday night was nerve-wracking knowing we had to cycle all the way home again, but the huge amount of support we’d had from home kept us all going, so thanks to everyone who sponsored us.

“It was an experience we’ll never forget, and one we will probably never, ever repeat, but it was well worth the effort for such a good cause.”

All the money Vicki and her fellow riders raised went to Marie Curie. The girls paid all their own expenses and the ride guides were also all volunteers.

It’s also not too late for you to place a donation. You can do so by clicking the link below:
