Online sales boost of almost a fifth in April

Figures have shown that last month eCommerce sales increased by a whopping 18% when compared to the same period in 2011. The Office for National Statistics released the figures this week, which recorded average weekly internet sales in April to be £489.0 million. As well as an increase on last year's figures, April was also up on the previous month when an average of £485.4m was spent each week. Reports have shown that UK sales via mobile devices have grown from 0.4% of total e-retail sales to 5.3% in just two short years. Debenhams reports 34% jump in online sales

A report published this week has revealed that high street department store Debenhams has seen a jump in profits in the past six months, up 1.4% when compared to the same period last year. Debenhams reported overall profits of £127.1m in the first half of the financial year, and more significantly reported a growth in surge in online sales of 34% throughout this period. Boxing Day a huge hit for online spending

It was a record breaking Boxing Day this year online, with a massive 13 million hours spent shopping online on 26th Decemeber 2011. It was reported last week that Boxing Day attracted the most number of online shoppers in the UK, with visitor numbers reaching a whopping 96m.
