A discussion forum can be integrated into any website if needed. Discussion forums work well to bring together communities of likeminded people.
They do however need to be closely moderated and in order for them to be successful and work well, the community needs to be involved and regularly posting.
The design and styling of a forum needs to flow from the rest of the site.
